Contrast these sounding rocket experiments with the long, drawn out affairs for orbiting telescopes. The orbiting telescope either makes it to orbit or not. Days or weeks later the lens cap doors are opened. Endless calibrations and testing. And about the time you’ve completely forgotten about the mission… an announcement that the real science has started.

Sure it costs a lot of money to build rockets, but doesn’t it cost the same amount to build a rocket with a warhead?

it costs millions of dollars to launch a rocket. it costs more millions per kilogram – so think about it? 100 years is not enough time to colonize ANYTHING no matter what policy or economics are involved
anything can happen at anytime…dont be so sure that we have millions of years before something bad might happen.

We would of been out in space colonizing the Moon and Mars by now if we had a more sensible foreign policy and a free market economy within the last 100 years.
A free market wouldn’t have so many government regulations that limits innovations and attempts for space. Because we have a bad economic system now, budgets are the main reason for our hold up for going into space.
