I was never really a BOC fan, but I would still listen to Don’t Fear the Reaper occasionally. I thought the original version of this song was rather weak and very boring, but Metallica’s covering added what I liked to it. I’m not a big fan of all the covers on this album, but I commend them for the respect they give to the music that inspired them. I do like this song.
I could fart a better melody than to listen to mettalicas version Just my opinion. And if you dont share my opinion its probably because you couldnt read it to begin with.
@ruserious2008 i love metallica and to be honst…i realy didnt like it when they covered songs but hey….they did do a couple good but i am a whisky n the jar and fades to black era fan..i do agree with you
This is cool but lets get it straight- BOC didn’t do a version they wrote it! Metallic did a “version of it” . Love Metallic but this is sissy music. The little harmony and then the “Spartan” HEY’s sounds lame. Good guitars and Het’s vocals rock but this song always needs piano. Hats off the the boys for doing this song and perhaps introducing some peeps to BOC (and for your guitar players-check out Donald Roesser. But lets hope Metallica doesn’t try to cover Last Days of May!
Though this was originally a Blue Oyster Cult song, Metallica blows it out of the water with this cover… A lot of the songs they covered on Garage Inc. sound better then the way the original song was done by the original band.
I love Blue Oyster Cult, but this is a major improvement of a great original song. It’s not often that someone can can improve upon a song they didn’t create themselves. Metallica did it more than once on Garage Inc.
@vivemoietlesg33k First time listening, I was more wowed by the bends at the end. When I was listening it for the first time, it was so late at night in bed, I thought that bit was a dream, and it didn’t even happen.
Love this cover… Great guitar revision
@IVH93 Becouse it’s not Metallica, this song original played by Blue Oyster Cult
bes song ever
@ShellRae7836 Fart a better melody, video tape it, put it all on a DVD, make sure to include an HD version… then shove it up your ass.
@bigfatpauly126 Metallica only had two awesome albums Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning.
ITS BUTCHERED UP
Metallica is so f in good. The best of all time.

Kudos to the original creators, though!

@TheLibrium JAJAJAJAJA SHUTUP DAVE MUSTAINE JAJAJAJA

9 Nirvana/Green Day/Other Shit of Band dislike this song…its…well…
Metallica is one of the best bands ever created
@MetallicA81CAL Hahahaaa! That would be like Nirvana including a Guns ‘n Roses song on a cover album……..Polar opposites, dude.
@robbiegta HELPLESS Fools..LOL!
how did nine people slip to the dislike button? careless fools
@TheKinghorst
I like megadeth
They should have included Iron Maiden in this album

The BOC version is better , but I like the fact that at least someone is giving the cult some respect.
