Cell phone cameras. No one is seeing them now that instant documentation is available. THEY DON'T EXIST! Except for Bigfoot and his cousins, of coure! They have jamming technology.
It's simply out of fashion. These were all traditional methods for getting your name in the paper, or even in the local TV news. Now, newspapers are no longer read by most, and you have to blow something up or shoot someone to gain notoriety. These things simply are no longer considered newsworthy, and so are no longer claimed.
*However*, I believe the Weekly World News still employs writers who produce articles along these lines. Sheer fantasy, but it's hilarious.
