I saw em in 78 at Tiffanys Blackheath at 14 years old……,they were awesome.

  2. Nolanwriter says:

Bob on Harry and Pearsons. PIL reform? How can it be when there’s only Lydon there? Post punk karaoke. I’ll be there at Islington for Rich Kids. And how ahead of the game was Steve New’s look on this clip?

  3. johngill says:

I’ll be there – I’d pay twice the price for Steve.

  4. pearsons78 says:

Rich Kids gig! Proper punk tunes, killer riffs, hooks & totally catchy melodies-not PIL’s wishy washy BORING shit -Lydon you can stick your overpriced egotistical gigs(in venues you cant sell out)Jones,Cook and esp. Matlock are surely laughing their arses off at your dismal failure. haha-everyone loves the RichKids & the Professionals cos they dont take the piss out of their fans expecting them to pay through the nose for UTTER SHIT…Fuck Off Lydon – you are finished without your 3 puppetmasters

  5. harryn64 says:

One of my faves. An alltime classic!!! Rich Kids are reforming for a one-off gig in London on the 7th of january 2010!!!!! I fucking cant wait!!!!!Tickets on sale from friday. Only 17 quid,- PIL costs 36 quid. What a rotten greedy bastard Lydon is. Big respect to R.K. for the prices. Its a benefit for Steve New who has cancer. His new band will be playing as well plus lots of other guests as Viv Albertine, CarbonSilicon,TV Smith, Patti Palladin and many more ending with a Rich Kids set!! OHOHOHo

  6. clockwolf says:

    lol quality!!!!

  7. clockwolf says:

An absolute classic, I was lucky enough to see them in 1978.

  8. ZLUGGO says:

    Excellent!

  9. dlusman says:

Not my ad – no idea how that got there. I have removed it.

( and a bit of civility never hurt anyone )

  10. KP5000 says:

take your fucking ad off the top, dick.

  11. SSCFPA says:

My mum used to work at EMI Records in Southall.
Bands on the label used to do factory visits.
Rich Kids turned up, seeing their scruffy appearance, mum says ‘you don’t look very rich to me’.
Midge Ure replied, ‘och, we’re rich in talent love!’

Kate Bush also, mum mentioned all the ‘funny cigarette burns on her dress’.
I was about 12 then, only years later did I realise what they were!

  12. matthewgreylong says:

i started a band in 2002 that we called ‘the rich kids’. the idea was that of sarcasm since all of us were dirt poor, and it was so ludicrous that anyone else would ever have the stones to name a band that, we never worried about it. we never did have a name dispute with any current bands, unfortunately glen matlock thought of the idea 25 years before we did. but, i feel fortunate to have shared an idea with such a cool rock and roll band. its too bad both bands suffered the same fate.

  13. diddywahdaddy says:

    Absolutely fucking brilliant!!

  14. Wehategod says:

Midge Ure before he was dancing with tears in his eyes

  15. pelotaritorino says:

Please could anyone indicate me if there’s any mp3 version of this stunning live recording somewhere? I love Rich Kids but I’m not really in love with the LP’s version… here “Ghosts” really blows away the fuckin’ world… another amazing yet criminally underrated band from the Seventies.

  16. clockwolf says:

Yeah you are spot on mate, I remember it well.

  17. clockwolf says:

    Ha ha how very true!!

  18. filtermadg says:

then he saw a synth and everything changed lol

  19. fuguestate101 says:

  21. rhinitis says:

    ORIGATOH GOZAIMASU

  22. dortyhoor says:

Thanks, their name was on the tip of my tongue and a picture of them posing was in my mind but that was as far as i could get.
Am i the only one who thinks this TV version is better than the 45?

  23. oilcat says:

Slik is the name of the band with the baseball uniforms

  24. dortyhoor says:

their LP was split between Ure and Matlock songs, the Ure ones were an early show of his new love of electronic music, and it had his ‘punk’ single from 77 that was recorded with his old band, cant remember their name but they dressed in baseball uniforms, the Matlock ones (like this and rich kids) are better. a sadly forgotten and overlooked band.

  25. monotyper says:

they wer on because PIL didn’t show up. remember it well…
