(I'm not being closed-minded here) The purpose of demons is to distract God's people from ministry, and confuse curious people from their understandings of God…which is just what ghosts do… for example, if there's only heaven and hell, then how do we explain ghosts? Can people actually get lost on their way to one of those places? If so, then that would suggest that God isn't in full control of everything, whether the dead or living. See? They confuse people. The simple answer is that ghosts are just demons.
I understand what you're trying to learn, but bottom line from what I've come to realize in my own experiences is that ghosts are just demons, and the Gospels talk about their behaviors, as well as how to deal with them.
