mental problems in the person who is being “haunted”

  2. Great Gazoo says:

I’ve seen a ghost and still don’t believe in them. Seriously…stories like that are just stories. If there was anything to it there would be legitimate science papers on it by now.

  3. Tiedye D says:

Spirits and ghosts don’t exist, every single case has been debunked.

  4. darian says:

they may have really seen it, but that doesn’t mean it was real.
this is a paradox, schizophrenia must be taken into account.

  5. Pirate AM™ says:

A haunting in the 1800′s is not very compelling, especially as even if it were somewhat researched and investigated, the findings can not be verified now, nor can the methodology be examined.

It is telling that the website states: “One such haunting is the legend of the so-called ?Bell Witch,? a sinister entity that tormented a pioneer family on Tennessee?s early frontier between 1817 and 1821″ Note the words “legend” and “so-called”.

Various logical explanations include mental disorders, fear run amuck, and potentially foul play.

Having read this story many times,my conclusion is that the “ghost” was a way to explain illness or mental diease. In those days, evil spirits were blamed for things people couldnt explain.
