These are the bones of people who died hundreds of years ago.
I find it quite beautiful, I would love to explore them one day, I mean there dead, what better to do with the remains than make miles upon miles of human artwork out of them. I mean we all die sooner or later, I would love for my remains to be part of the artwork that is the catacombs!
You’re talking about people’s loved ones and relatives, and not to mention these people were very religious.
I mean I know that if my mother had not wished to be cremated then I would be horrified if she was, I would much rather her be put into a catacomb.

i know what you mean, i got lost in a disneyland hotel because all the hallways in there have no directories, just imagining 10000 times that size is truly haunting. and the fact that it’s not calming pics of the beach with mickey but completely covered with thousands of bones

Actually there is a small portion open for tourists but the majority of it is closed off to the public.

Could have sworn they have tours. It is just illegal to go into the catacombs without a tour guide approved by the local authorities within paris.

I would go with a tour guide as i prefer somebody who has the catacombs all mapped out. Great Video btw

i will tell you the directions on how to get to the entrance, it costs 4 euro’s to get in and you can’t get lost in the area they have set up. unfortunately you cant take flash pictures down there so you better have a good camera.
