   Probably its just they way it was interpreted.
   I guess some people could consider that witchcraft, or something, but i don’t remember the bible saying that.
   In the Middle ages and Rennaissance alot of kings and lords had their own astrologers, they used them to predict rain, or the outcomes of wars, or what gender their kids were supposed to be. They were all Catholic.
   actually i think Henry the 8th had some astrologer imprisoned because they told him that Princess Elizabeth was supposed to be a son.

   and god said “let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and for years”

   what else would “signs” be than for astrology?

   Yes HE forbids it! Here’s the verses you were looking for:

   The Holy Bible (NIV)

   And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven (Deuteronomy 4:19).

   … and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars of the sky (Deuteronomy 17:3).

   All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you.    God did say the stars shall be for signs. Joseph was an astrologer. Jesus said his return would be marked by the signs. The Bible is full of astrological symbolism.
