    I too have done extensive comparative theology studies and so far all that I have come across that believe in reincarnation believe it to be a linear function through time. In other words, if you lived a life in 1565 AD you would never experience another at an earlier date. The religions I have studied that do believe in reincarnation believe that you always move ahead into the future.
