EVP: An Unbelievable Response

On paranormal investigations the use of control questions is an important part of all ghost box and EVP recording sessions. A control question is basicly asking something to which there can be only one possible correct answer to determine whether or not you are communicating with an intelligent life form. In this short video I used such a question and got more than I bargained for. Was this voice caught on tape showing intelligence, was it a spirit answering my question precisely, was it just co incidence?EVP or electronic voice phenomena as it is known is thought to be voices of those passed away trying to communicate with us captured on electronic devices. When trying to capture EVP, you can sit and ask questions or leave an audio recording device in a quiet room. When you play these recordings back, sometimes you will hear disembodied voices that were not present at the time, answering your questions or talking in general. This area of paranormal research was popularised when the film White Noise was released in 2005 starring Michael Keaton. The most popular method of capturing EVP is by using ordinary tape or digital audio dictaphone's or recording devices. One of the pioneers in this field was Dr Konstantin Raudive (1909 - 1974) and his experiments are still much talked about today.

Electronic Voice Phenomena - What Is It And How To Capture Them

Electronic Voice Phenomena - What Is It And How To Capture Them

Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP), is a paranormal event that is not really understood by anybody. Many scientists are even baffled by it, however, it is the most common type of evidence that ghost hunters and paranormal investigators capture and bring foreword as proof of life after death.

An EVP is simply an audio recording of a ghost or spirit that is caught on tape or digital recording devices, even though the voice was NOT heard by the human ear at the time the voice has spoken. As a paranormal investigator myself, I can honestly say that you are more likely to capture EVPs that you would and actual photograph of an entity.

It doesn't take a whole lot of money for equipment to be successful in this type of activity. Even the cheapest and simplest recording devices will suffice. I prefer to use digital recorders because they can be edited very easily, however, I know many people that use the older cassette units. EVPs are also caught on the audio portion of video cameras.

Performing EVP work during paranormal investigations takes a little bit of skill for the novice ghost hunter. The first thing that needs to be realized is that the area must be as quiet as possible, since the vast majority of recorded spirit voices are whispers. Indoors is optimal because there is usually way too much background noise outside coming from passing cars. I have discovered that Doing EVP work outdoors during the warmer months is almost futile, as the chirping bugs and other insects can be loud enough to drown out any voices you may have captured.

If you use a hand-held digital recorder, you will want to make sure that the device is held firmly in your hand. Shifting it around in your hands during recording sessions will create thunderous noise during playpack. Make every attempt to place the device down somewhere while you are in recording mode.

During an EVP session, you are trying to establish actual communication with with the entity that may be present. As stated above, you cannot hear the spirit voices with your own ears until after you play back your recorders. Ask simple questions, such as "What's your name", "How old are you," etc.. ALWAYS give at least 8 to 10 seconds in between questions or statements in order to give plenty of time for an answer.

After you have completed your ghost hunting activity, go home and play back your sessions. You must be in a quiet room with absolutely no TV or stereo blasting. It's usually better to use headphones.

Have fun and good luck!

Electronic Voice Phenomena and Ghost Boxes

Electronic Voice Phenomena and Ghost Boxes

A little background information on why I am writing an article on EVP and Ghost Boxes.  I was in conversation the other day, with a couple of people I know and they that were suggesting that I try out a couple of experiments using a Ghost Box.    I had never heard of a Ghost Box before - so needless to say, they had to explain what it was and how it worked.  What this would do for my own personal Spritual Development I don't know - seems like cheating to me! They know that I can sense spirit. talk to spirit, and hear spirit.  But stronger spirit communication is one of my constant development targets.

Their suggestion of my using a Ghost Box arose because they know I cannot hear spirit as and when I want - I tend to only hear them when they really want my attention and shout at me.  Or maybe it is just selective hearing - I'm sure I will find out one day.

I have heard of EVP and it is yet another thing that has been on my to-do list for years but for those of you who have no understanding of EVP here is an explanation.

EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena)  is an event in which human-sounding voices from an unknown source are heard on a recording.  These voices are not heard at the time of recording; it is only when the recording is played back that the voices are heard. Sometimes amplification and noise filtering is required to hear the voices. Some EVP is more easily heard and understood than others. And they vary in gender (men and women), age (women and children), tone and emotion. They usually speak in single-words, phrases and short sentences. Sometimes they are just grunts, groans, growling and other vocal noises. EVP has been recorded in many different languages.

A very basic way to try and capture these voices, is with a recording device and with another device playing 'White Noise'.  It is thought that the owners (spirits) of these voices are somehow able to manipulate these waves into recognisable words.  However, there have been many developments over the years, especially with the invention of The Ghost Box.

But What Is A Ghost Box?   By what I can gather a modern day Ghost Box is made up of a couple of radio receivers, that are made to scan the radio waves randomly, which are plugged into a mixer, the mixer is then plugged into a computer running an audio program which also generates white-noise and can record,  a microphone is also plugged into the computer.

You can turn the mixer down, to ask a question, then turn up the mixer, which generates the random frequencies of the radio-waves.  Give the 'voices' a chance to respond.  Then cut the mixer level again and go on to ask another question.  You continue in this way until you have asked all the questions you want to ask.

Turn the radio scanners off.  Play back your recordings.  If you can identify answers to your questions then well done you have made spirit communication!  With the computer audio programs, you can usually cut out additional unwanted interference which can make the voices clearer.

I am sure there are other ways of constructing a Ghost Box but what I have described above is my novice understanding of it.

One day I may actually get around to carrying out some experiments on a home made Ghost Box, or just normal EVP.  But I would certainly be interested in hearing more about this method of spirit communication.

I have been interested in all things related to spiritualism, meditation, self development for as long as I can remember. If any one has any experience of using EVP or a Ghost Box then I would love to hear from you.

Blocking Radio Signals: an experiment to use for future electronic voice phenomena research

www.youtube.com Be sure to visit my channel for more great videos, subscribe and leave comments! I have done research since I made this video and Michael Faraday created the "Faraday Cage" after theorizing that any electromagnetic wave that contacted a conductive metal (or surface) would instantly pass around it. This means that conductive materials like aluminum WILL block radio signals. The effectiveness of this simply depends on if there are any openings in the aluminum. If not, it will block the signal. My phone experiment is a good demonstration of this. Anyone who got different results probably didn't wrap the object properly. For example if it is not wrapped totally around something like a television antenna, it might AMPLIFY the waves instead of nullify them. An unplugged microwave will work to block signals as well. I'm going to make a box wrapped in aluminum (tightly) to use for radio wave blocking. This will benefit the investigations where we are trying to capture electronic voice phenomena.

Blocking Radio Signals: an experiment to use for future electronic voice phenomena research (part 2)

www.youtube.com Be sure to visit my channel for more great videos, subscribe and leave comments! In this video I experiment with different methods to block off radio signals. This is to help find a way to avoid the skepticism that EVP are simply stray radio signals that are picked up by sensitive audio equipment. I will be implimenting something of this nature during my investigations with the NCPII. I use a very good set of walkie talkies to see how well the aluminum lined box I made to block radio waves fulfills its purpose. This is part 2 for a prior video where I experimented with phones wrapped in aluminum(though I use phones in this too). Thanks for watching. Feel free to make suggestions or give input about this.

Atheists: why are EVPs not considered as any kind of proof?

Question by : Atheists: why are EVPs not considered as any kind of proof?
"electronic voice phenomenon" that ghost hunters claim to get that are spirit voices. they also claim that it is proof bc even if was picking up on random frequencies, the answers are too on to be just coincidence. i'm just curious what the flaw is in it. is it not considered testable because it is too random? or is it something else. thanks
this question has nothing to do with religion; only spirituality.
@saffron/
@atheistbassist: i've tried that lol, and i agree with you sometimes i think of something else it may be saying and sometimes i agree. the only thing that trips me out is when they get a series of answers that are on with the question asked. this could just be a hoax from them, or just a lucky evp sesh were all the electrical signals happened to match up...idk.

Types of Paranormal Phenomena

Types of Paranormal Phenomena

Despite the lack of scientific evidence that proves the existence of paranormal phenomena beyond a shadow of a doubt, more than half of all Americans believe in the existence of spirits or paranormal activity. For many people, it's important to consider the possibility of life after death and to remain open to alternate realities. As the past has shown us, just because we can't explain it, doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist.

Demonic possession is one type of paranormal phenomena that has been investigated over the years. Cuneiform writings were found on ancient Sumerian tablets, praying for safety from demons. The Bible talks about "demon-possessed" people in the gospels of Luke, John, Matthew, Mark and in the Acts of the Apostles. The Catholic Church believes that individuals can become possessed in order to be tested; often following occult practices, mortal sin, loss of faith or psychological trauma.

Possession is also recognized in the medical community, especially in cases of dissociative personality disorder, where a third of the afflicted refer to themselves as demons and paranormal beings.

Paranormal happenings also include a haunting, which is a recurring activity in a set location. There is the "intelligent haunting," where thinking spirits interact and communicate with living humans. There is the "residual haunting," which seem more like a movie or recording comprised of residual energy, where there is no conscious interaction but the spirits remain. Then there is the "inhuman haunting," which is one of the most terrifying encounters because they're typically attributed to demons, the paranormal and poltergeists.

Extrasensory perception is another broad category of paranormal phenomena; this one dealing with psychic abilities, rather than otherworldly paranormal supernatural spirits. Clairvoyants can gain knowledge about people, places and events they have not previously read or heard about. An offshoot of clairvoyance includes precognition, where psychics may receive detailed information about the future.

Telepathy involves the transfer of information between people, using their minds only. Telekinesis is the ability to move objects solely through the power of the mind and a "medium" has the ability to communicate with departed spirits. Astral projection is another term for out-of-body travel, where the soul leaves the body and returns at will, without causing death.

White noise for paranormal phenomenon?

Question by Tom S: White noise for paranormal phenomenon?
White noise is audio energy of equal intensity at all frequencies. This is the noise that you hear on a blank TV station or FM radio station. Apparently if you record many hours of white noise onto a cassette tape and then listen to it, then you might hear human voices trying to contact you. Approximately 10% of the time the voices are either angry or are warning you.

Some people claim that this "Electronic voice phenomenon" is of a paranormal origin or voices of the deceased. Others believe that it's just random noise that happens to assemble itself into something that sounds like a voice (much like a monkey typing randomly on a keyboard - words or sentences will be formed if you wait long enough). Others believe that it's just a human characteristic to find familiar patterns amongst random stimuli.

This experiment is simple to do. Has anyone ever tried this?

EVP - Electronic Voice Phenomena

This EVP was captured in the ghost town of Ashcroft, Colorado, a former mining camp. I used an Olympus Digital Recorder VN 2100 PC while I was standing alone for about twenty minutes, asking various questions aloud. Four minutes before the end of the recording, I asked a question and appeared to receive a reply. It's fairly faint, but does sound like a voice responding directly to my question. Let me know if you hear it and what you think it's saying. Thanks for listening!

Paranormal Evidence, Ethereal Voices, EVP

The ghost box EVP recordings in this video were captured on 17th and 19th November 2009. In these sessions I used some control questions to see if I could get some precise responses. Evp-Electronic Voice Phenomena

Slebst aufgenomme EVP´s

Pretty scary, and it's NOT fake! Everything starts at 03:26. If you look very careful at 03:42 you'll see a face. After that nothing happens. To answer some questions: Why was I recording statics? Because I was really into this kind of stuff 2 years ago. The original clip is actually 2 hours, and I wasn't in the room in front of the TV when this happened, I first saw it when I watched parts of the 2 hours long clip. How did I record this? With a camera in front of the TV, simple. Why didn't I shortened the video out even more? The reason to why I didn't edited the video to a shorter version is because I might have missed something, not because I'm trying to waste your time or make it more "scary". And at last: some people don't seem to understand, this is NOT a fake! I'm not saying there's something supernatural about it, it could be (like many are saying) the TV picking up random signals, but it looks kinda cool however, so i decided to upload it here. It's not a fake, neither is it ghosts.
