There are too many similarities between the image on the shroud and the description of the wounds of Jesus in the Bible to just dismiss this as not being the covering that Jesus was wrapped in. While I agree with what one of the posters said about John's account of the linen clothes and the napkin that was about Jesus' head wrapped in a place by itself, John was describing what he saw "after" the resurrection, not "during" the resurrection. I accept by faith that Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead. I believe the power and light of His resurrection in the tomb is beyond our human mind to comprehend it. While I don't need the Shroud of Turin to strengthen my faith, it may serve to bring others to Christ. I'm not God, and I don't know the mind of God, so "if" He preserved this shroud for 2,000 years, there must be a reason for doing so. God bless you!!!

I've got two words for you, CrimmsonAndClover: More Tinfoil.

The actual shroud in question is a linen cloth 14 feet 3 inches long and 3 feet 7 inches wide that bears the superficial imprint of the WHOLE body of a man (not just the head) as can be seen here:

The whole shroud is ONE SOLID PIECE which shows the superficial imprint of the whole body INCLUDING the head.
The reason I mention this is because in John 20:6-7, it describes what was found in the empty tomb after Jesus’ resurrection: “He [Peter] viewed the bandages lying, also the cloth that had been upon his head not lying with the bandages but separately rolled up in one place.”

The fact that a separate piece of cloth is mentioned as being “upon his head” shows that a different piece covered his head, whereas the Shroud of Turin clearly shows the image of the head ON THE SAME CLOTH that covered the body.

So the Bible account indicates that the materiel used to cover Jesus’ body was not the one-pieced Shroud of Turin.

The Shroud of Turin had caught fire at least 3 times, including around the time it was discovered.

That is what makes it seem to only go back to the Medieval times.

  5. Bugout says:

It’s a medieval forgery and the catholic church knows it, but that wont stop them from screwing every cent they can from faithful who believe that it’s real thing.
