Halloween is typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain. Others believe its origins are in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the festival of the dead called Parentalia

The word Halloween is first attested in the 16th century and represents a Scottish variant of the fuller All-Hallows-Even (“evening”), that is, the night before All Hallows (saints) Day.

What does any of that have to do with atheism?

In other words, anything for which there’s not strong, repeatable physical evidence. Or in the case of medical “cures”, work better than a placebo does.

Am I alone in this? Just curious.

I myself don’t understand what exactly is the reasoning behind “hauntings” and what not, but I don’t think that everything can be chalked up to “people’s imaginations,” especially since this one case was actually documented. It is said that Andrew Jackson witnessed the “entity,” but I don’t think there is any actual proof that he was even there.

So, my question is.. If ghost/spirits don’t exist, what would be the logical explanation for the Bell Witch haunting?

Pirate: That’s a good point… I didn’t think about that. What I took from that website is that no one really knows what happened to the Bell family, but I wanted to get other’s opinions on how they explain supposed ghost sightings.

All it simply is, is “The lack of deity” That’s the only thing all atheists have in common.

Am I the only one that gets bothered by this?
I just believe in it, because I have a little bit of ‘believing without seeing’ in me, why not spend it like a girl on Black Friday?
