Sinking Boat Insurance Myths

You don’t believe in the Loch Ness Monster. You don’t believe your friend caught Jaws fishing off the Florida coast. So why do most boaters believe boat insurance does not cover them wherever they go?

Progressive Insurance surveyed more than 1,000 boat owners. It uncovered a few insurance myths floating around. Here’s a sample of the findings and the facts behind each:

Myth: Everyone pays more for insurance because of the hurricanes from a couple of years ago.

Reality: Even though it’s believed by 74 percent of respondents, it isn’t true. Boat insurers generally price policies based on claims in each state. For example, Texas customers won’t pay more for insurance because of hurricanes in Florida.

“I have noticed claims don’t happen very often on boat insurance policies from boat owners. Most boating accidents you see out there involve people renting boats,” says Lucas Ziegler, agent at Texas Prime Insurance, an independent insurance agency in Austin, TX. ” I have noticed boat owners tend to be very responsible, know their boats, and take care of them. Some go as far as naming them. You simply don’t mistreat something you name. Therefore, boat insurance in Austin tends to be really inexpensive!”

Myth: TexasBoat insurance covers me anywhere I decide to go boating.

Reality: Seventy-six percent of respondents believed this one. The reality is some insurers only provide coverage where the boat is used most. Insurers may limit coverage to 100 nautical miles of your home port. Progressive provides coverage virtually anywhere you decide to go in the continental U.S. and Canada.

“In most cases, restrictions will not be a problem,” says Lucas Ziegler. “Coverage problems will start arising when insuring larger boats like yachts and sail boats. When you see a hurricane coming, you will see all the smaller boat owners haul their boat away. In many cases, larger boats and sail boats don’t have this option.”

Myth: I’ll get a better insurance rate if I buy from the same company that insures my home or car.

Reality: Buying more than one product from the same insurance company doesn’t mean you get the best rate – even though 45 percent of respondents thought so. Boaters can save by shopping around and combining specialized policies from different companies.

“It’s important to understand what’s available,” said Lucas. “You want to be properly protected in case your boat is stolen, you get into an accident or contents are damaged. We’re separating fact from fiction so boaters can make the best insurance decisions possible.”

Myth: Boat insurance will expensive. As expensive as my auto insurance!

Reality: Boat insurance tends to be really inexpensive. It will depend on the coverage, but in general, a boat insurance policy will be much less than auto insurance

“I’ve insured a ,000 boat with excellent coverage for less than 0 per year,” says Lucas. “of course it was an older driver with very good insurance history, but in general boat insurance is very inexpensive. Most of the first time boat owners I deal with get shocked at how low the premium is!”

Exploding The Global Warming Myths

Are you a believer of Global warming or not? Or are you one of the cynics yet to be convinced? Well both have a part to play in the Global Warming arena debate. The whole issue is surrounded by facts and figures but when these facts and figures are looked at it is very difficult to prove them with science, so you end up with hearsay.

Global warming from our point of view is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near-surface air and oceans.

When you observe all the different global warming myths that are published in various publications, online, TV, and radio you will understand the issue with conflicting information. Because of these global warming myths come in many forms it is essential to understand the causes of global warming, and the facts attached to those myths.

MYTH: Water vapour is the most important, abundant greenhouse gas. So if we’re going to control a greenhouse gas, why don’t we control it instead of carbon dioxide?

FACT: Water vapour does trap more heat than carbon dioxide (CO2), but as CO2 levels increase in the atmosphere, they lead to warmer conditions, which lead to more water vapour in the air, which leads to even warmer conditions, thus a never ending cycle. Because of this relationship between CO2, water vapour and climate, to fight global warming nations must focus on controlling CO2.

MYTH: Global warming reduces as the ozone hole shrinks.

FACT: Global warming and the ozone hole are two separate issues.

MYTH: Global warming is not occurring due to some glaciers and ice sheets are expanding and not shrinking.

FACT: In most parts of the world, the shrinking of glaciers and ice caps have been dramatic. The best available scientific data indicate that Greenland’s massive ice sheet is shrinking.

MYTH: So what if global warming is a problem, trying to fix it will affect American industry and workers.

FACT: A well thought out trading program will harness American ingenuity to decrease heat-trapping pollution cost-effectively, jumpstarting a new carbon economy.

MYTH: The cold winters and cool summers that have been happening of late are not the effects of global warming, and are infrequent events.

FACT: While it is true that different areas of country’s have experienced some colder winters here and there, between them the average temperature has ben on the up.

MYTH: We can adapt to climate change. Civilizations have survived droughts and temperature shifts in the past.

FACT: Although it is true that the human race has survived an onslaught of drought and prolonged warmth along with the bitter cold and more, entire societies have collapsed from dramatic climatic shifts.

MYTH: Global warming along with extra CO2 will be beneficial, they reduce cold related deaths and stimulate crop growth.

FACT: Any beneficial effects will be far outweighed by damage and disruption.

MYTH: Global warming is just part of the worlds natural cycle. The Arctic has warmed up in the past as it is doing now.

FACT: The global warming we are experiencing is not natural. People are causing it.

While the global warming myth story is interesting, it does reduce the impact of the facts. But as they say “Truth is stranger than fiction.” The many myths on global warming doing the rounds are based on global warming statistics, just with a different view point.

It is always best, as with everything, to look at the global warming myth with an open mind. There is always two sides to every coin, so explore both before making your full opinion.

Perhaps this article on global warming myth with strike a chord with you and will inspire further reading into the subject.

Like the title suggests – Top Ten Myths about Reverse Speech In this video – myths 1-5 Number One: There is no such thing as reverse speech. That’s why it is rejected by mainstream science. Number Two: I can prove or disprove reverse speech just by listening for myself. If I hear words, it’s legit, but, if not, it’s bogus. Number Three: Reverse speech is obviously fake because what is claimed to be a reversal doesn’t even have the same number of syllables or the same letter sounds as the forwards part. Number Four: Reverse Speech is just people’s minds playing tricks on them. This can be explained scientifically as pareidolia or apophenia. People hear what they want to hear. Number Five: Reverse speech is all just backmasking, an intentional recording technique where the audio is first recorded and then reversed and rerecorded. * * * * * * * * * * * * Why do some see and hear what others don’t? There is a veiling of things that causes them not to be perceived, seen, heard or understood. This is a very specific, very granular action. This peculiar work of the spirit is addressed in the Bible in places like 1 John 2:9-11, 2 Corinthians 3:13-16, 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 and John 12:37-40. Examples are found throughout the biblical account and life itself. See theopenscroll.com for more insight.
Like the title suggests – Top Ten Myths about Reverse Speech In this video – myths 6 – 10 Number Six: The phenomenon of the reverse speech video is entirely due to the power of suggestion. It’s explained by the observer-expectancy effect. People hear what is suggested that they should hear. Number Seven: Reverse Speech examples are faked by deceitful people who manipulate the audio to make it sound like whatever they want. Number Eight: The words and message being presented on the screen in reverse speech video is just what the video presenter wants you to hear. Number Nine: To make a speech or song and get the message you want in the reverse speech, you have to try very hard and be very gifted to figure out what to say and how to say it to make the reverse speech come out like you want it to. Number Ten: Reverse speech messages are good for entertainment purposes only. The words heard might be real but they are the result of some kind of cosmic coincidence. The message is completely unreliable, so reverse speech analysis is just a toy with no real value beyond provoking a good laugh. * * * * * * * * * * * * Why do some see and hear what others don’t? There is a veiling of things that causes them not to be perceived, seen, heard or understood. This is a very specific, very granular action.
