Could extraterrestrials be the explanation for human life on Earth?

"Evolutionary chains" go a long way towards explaining the development of life, including human life, from simpler organisms, but we haven't gotten very far yet in explaining how the mutation and reproduction systems that natural selection requires got started in the first place. Some researchers, and by that I mean mainstream ones who fully accept evolution as the fundamental organizing theory of biology, have tried to work around this problem by postulating that the original lifeforms didn't evolve on Earth at all. However, while this changes the debate somewhat, by allowing far greater timelines for life to evolve, it still begs the question: OK, if life evolved somewhere else first, how did it get started *there*? I think we are much better served by looking at whether life could have evolved here, under the conditions of the primitive earth as we know them.
i disagree. evolutionary chains prove that we didnt just "pop up" one day
Not really, even if aliens seeded Earth with life, you still have to explain the aliens, so really you are creating a problem as you remove another.
Umm… quick question. Where did the extraterrestrials come from? We're back to the same old questions and answers.
I believe this to be very viable. Think about it, any sentient species other than human would be considered alien, so wouldn't that make God an alien? I also believe in a combination of intelligent design and evolution.
No, we have found no evidence for extraterrestrials and if they initiated life on earth where did their life start?
Yes, but scientists are still unsure of what triggered our era of cynoabacteria. I believe it is possible we were placed here…maybe evn to see if bacteria could evolve into something more..
Yes, it could be an explaination, just not a very good one.
It is also unnessary since science has excellent explainations.
to a kinder gentleler me: Spontanious generation – what do you think? Of course evolution, you wacko. What are you doing, reading the debunked Michael Behe?
Completely possible!
Someone was ignoring the PRIME DIRECTIVE!
EDIT: Excellent explanations? Like what?
Evolution? Unlikely as everything is too perfectly complicated.
Creation? Why doesn't the bible mention dinosaurs? Or cro-magnon man?
Totally possible.
BUT, as with any science, belief and possibility is not good enough. If you think it's true, find evidence that will be acceptable by mainstream scientists.
Don't you think we'd all be more advanced as a species? Would'nt we all have a better means of communication and would there be no such thing as starvation, racism, politics, corruption, rape, child molestion, and all the other forms of moral debauchery we all suffer from today?
