Of course I will say NO to animal cruelty.I will never take my children to the circus or anywhere else that uses animals for entertainment. When I found out about what goes on behind the scenes at circuses and what hideous training methods they use…I knew I would never ever go or take my children to the circus.I have taught my children that animals are not to be used as entertainment.I think it is so disgusting what they do to these beautiful and precious animals.
I don’t think I have ever been to a circus. but i know how sad it is. They are so mean. If humans were forced to perform, and be whipped, and burned, and roped together then we wouldn’t like it very much either. I think that circuses are sick now that i read what you just wrote and i will not go to circuses anymore and if i do I will be protesting or releasing the animals (jk)
Did you copy this propaganda directly from the PETA website? Nothing they say is reliable.
"Circuses that use animals use violence." That's a pretty bold statement. I can teach my dog to do tricks without violence, why wouldn't it be possible to teach other animals tricks humanely?
Instead of boycotting all circuses, I think it would be best to research the individual circus before going. If they have a record of animal abuse, then of course skip it. But if the circus has a clean record, there's nothing wrong with them. Don't punish all circuses for the crimes of a few.
edit: I'll give you credit for quoting an elephant trainer (just one of of many, though– you don't know if he's typical or an exception.) But you don't cite any other sources. Where is this information coming from? How do you know it's accurate? I'm not inclined to believe a bunch of unsourced claims about any subject, that's just not how education works. Unless you're able to provide reliable sources that back up your article I can't accept it as true.
I COMPLETELY agree with you. It is awful how they treat these wild graceful animals. It disgusts me! I have an uncle who works in an animal sanctuary in South Africa and he sent me a letter about a monkey that was used in a “traveling circus” The monkey had several tattoos of different animals and sayings, apparently one of the acts they had the monkey do was identify his tattoos. They monkey was significantly under weight and was obviously abused. I can not believe how cruel some people are, hurting innocent animals for money. This is the only “circus case” my uncle has told me of, most of the animals they rescue are wild animals who idiots thought they could have as pets. Another topic that really gets on my nerves, but that is a whole other story and i’m going to stop writing before i turn this into a novel.
Once again, totally agree with you and thank you for posting this to inform more people about this subject matter.
