It's not a matter of having to disprove it. It remains unproven.
If you can demonstrate that a particular reading is consistently correct I would be very, very surprised. Of course nobody has ever done this so science stopped paying attention a long time ago.
I'm sorry I don't know how to answer your question in full, but it sounded interesting.
I think that is kind of a touchy subject. I am all for science, but I believe in astrology as well. It's kinda like religion in a way. I myself am not religious, but astrology has the same run in with science, just not in such a big way.
Astrology is not a 'real' science because of the definition of science itself which is:-
'science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on scientific method, as well as to the organized body of knowledge gained through such research'
as a scientifically minded person, i believe in things only when they are proven, thats the base of science, to have a theory, and then prove it.
Astrology is never proven, so therefore is a faith, not a science.
It's amusing and lots of fun, but it's not ANY kind of science. There are no sample criteria or control groups. No sort of experiments can be run to verify or disprove hypotheses. No variables can be changed, one by one, to repeat an experiment. No experiments can be replicated. Results are not quantifiable. Correlations cannot be established showing data that establish cause and effect in a quantifiable way. I'm a Taurus on the Gemini cusp, but Aquarius is my rising sign. My moon is in Scorpio. And yes,I have a complete chart. As I said,it's lots of fun
There have been thousands of experiments and studies have debunked astrology, time and again. Among them:
* Birthdates among occupations and successful people are randomly distributed;
* Marriages between “compatible” and “incompatible” signs last he same amount of time;
* People given descriptions of other signs will say it accurately describes their personalities just as often as they will their own (usually, about 95% of the time in both cases). That’s because these descriptions rely on generalizations that apply to most anyone;
* Tested personality types are evenly distributed among the signs;
The list goes on and on and on.
There have been a handful of studies that claim to prove there’s something to astrology, but when you look at their actual data, they’re either being unscientific or flat out dishonest. For instance, there was a marriage one that was widely distributed among astrology enthusiasts that said that opposing signs were 20% more likely to get divorced. In the fine print, it noted that signs that were “too complimentary” were also 20% more likely, because they… got bored, you see. Being so happy all the time. Oh, and ones with neither complimentary nor opposite signs? They weren’t counted, because… what was the point? The only conclusion that could actually be made from their study, then, was that their entire sample had a 20% higher divorce rate than they had anticipated, which had even within that sample NO actual correlation with astrological relationships. Still, you’ll see that “study” cited even today by these people. It’s a lie, but one they’re eager to accept.
In short, anyone saying “they can’t” is really saying they’ve bought into dogma. Astrology has been tested by science thousands of times, and failed miserably.
