  1. Watwat says:

What you found them in your shell?

  2. Lucinda S says:

Yes they are the same. The dead sea scrolls are the ancient scrolls found by archeologists from ancient times apparently. They are written on leather. Some say that Jesus or whoever wrote for Jesus made statements that would make some think that he is a polytheistic. No one knows. He refers to “The Mother” as much as “The Father” in it.

  3. magicofdawn (again) says:

Tanakh is the Old Testament of the Bible. It is an acronym made for the words Torah (Pentateuch), Nevi’im (Prophets), and K’tuvim (Writings), which are the three main sections of the Hebrew Scriptures. The Torah is the first 5 books of the Old Testament. The Dead Sea Scrolls are documents found in caves, some of which were pieces of the Old Testament. These are consistent with the Tanakh of today, which proves it hasn’t changed in 2000 years. You should Google it and see!

  4. Trooper says:

    Tanakh=Old Testament of the Bible.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the 1940’s in the Qumran Caves. One of the most important contributions of the Dead Sea Scrolls is the numerous Biblical manuscripts which have been discovered. Until those discoveries at Qumran, the oldest manuscripts of the Hebrew Scriptures were copies from the 9th and 10th centuries AD by a group of Jewish scribes called the Massoretes. Now we have manuscripts around a thousand years older than those. The amazing truth is that these manuscripts are almost identical! Here is a strong example of the tender care which the Jewish scribes down through the centuries took in an effort to accurately copy the sacred Scriptures. We can have confidence that our Old Testament Scriptures faithfully represent the words given to Moses, David and the prophets.

    Some Teachings of the Talmud

Erubin 21b. Whosoever disobeys the rabbis deserves death and will be punished by being boiled in hot excrement in hell.

Moed Kattan 17a . If a Jew is tempted to do evil he should go to a city where he is not known and do the evil there.

    Non-Jews are Not Human

Baba Mezia 114a-114b. Only Jews are human (“Only ye are designated men”). Also see Kerithoth 6b under the sub-head, “Oil of Anointing” and Berakoth 58a in which Gentile women are designated animals (“she-asses”).

    Jews are Divine

Sanhedrin 58b. If a heathen (Gentile) hits a Jew, the Gentile must be killed. Hitting a Jew is the same as hitting God.

    O.K. to Cheat Non-Jews

Sanhedrin 57a . A Jew need not pay a Gentile (“Cuthean”) the wages owed him for work.

    Jews Have Superior Legal Status

Baba Kamma 37b. “If an ox of an Israelite gores an ox of a Canaanite there is no liability; but if an ox of a Canaanite gores an ox of an Israelite…the payment is to be in full.”

    Jews May Steal from Non-Jews

Baba Mezia 24a . If a Jew finds an object lost by a Gentile (“heathen”) it does not have to be returned. (Affirmed also in Baba Kamma 113b).

Sanhedrin 76a . God will not spare a Jew who “marries his daughter to an old man or takes a wife for his infant son or returns a lost article to a Cuthean…”

Jews May Rob and Kill Non-Jews

Sanhedrin 57a . When a Jew murders a Gentile (“Cuthean”), there will be no death penalty. What a Jew steals from a Gentile he may keep.

Baba Kamma 37b. Gentiles are outside the protection of the law and God has “exposed their money to Israel.”

    Jews May Lie to Non-Jews

Baba Kamma 113a. Jews may use lies (“subterfuges”) to circumvent a Gentile.

    Non-Jewish Children Sub-Human

Yebamoth 98a. All Gentile children are animals.

Abodah Zarah 36b . Gentile girls are in a state of niddah (filth) from birth.

Abodah Zarah 22a-22b . Gentiles prefer sex with cows.

Abodah Zarah 67b . “The vessels of Gentiles, do they not impart a worsened flavor to the food cooked in them?”

  6. Yamster Saab says:

While the claim that the Old Testament is consistent with the dead sea scrolls is true, it is incorrect to think that the Old Testament is the uncorrupted word of God. It is well known amongst academic scholars that the Old Testament is a compilation of four different sources dating from 950-400 BC (Dead Sea Scrolls date to 2nd century BC). These include the J or Jahwist source, E or Elohist source, D or Deuteronomist, and P or Priestly source.

Each of these sources differs significantly in the way God is portrayed. Some versions show God as all powerful and swift to punish while others give God more “human-like” characteristics. Either way these differences cannot be ignored. One popular theory is that Uzair (Ezra) was the one who recompiled these different sources around 450 BC to give us the Old Testament as we have today.

There are plenty of books on textual criticism of the Bible that you find on Amazon. Some of them are pretty interesting read.

  7. yotg says:

Torah and Tanakh are not the same.

Tanakh is the collection of Jewish canonical holy scriptures.

It is assembled of three books (which their initials combine its name):
    Torah ("teaching"; "law")
    Nevi'im ("prophets")
    Ktuvim ("writings")

The Torah is the first and most important book; it is read throughout the year in our synagogues.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are the most ancient biblical finding that was ever discovered.
They were found in 1947 and dated back to the 1st and 2nd century BCE. They were thought to be written either by the Essenes or the Sadducees, both were Jewish religious sects, but today there are several other theories regarding the identity of the Scrolls' writers.

The Scrolls consist parts of 800 "books": 30% of the Scrolls are parts of every book of the Tanakh (except for the Book of Esther, which is part of Ktuvim); some of the Scrolls consist parts of the deuterocanonical books; some of the Scrolls consist rabbinical interpretations and ritual instructions.

  8. Phoenix - pagan 1/2 of JPA says:

Amazing how many absolutely wrong answers there are.

Including Nazi forgeries and lies concerning the Talmud, which aren’t a part of the Tanakh.

The Tanakh *contains* the Torah – which are the first *5* books.

And for every idiot who claimed that it’s the Old Testament – they clearly have not read the two side by side.

Actually you really can’t, because the OT has been reorganized in addition to being mistranslated.

The two are NOT the same.

You had one good answer as far as the breakdown
    Ta – Torah or law
    Na – Nevi’im or Prophets
Kh – Ketuvim or Writings (History)

The Dead Sea Scrolls are mostly fragmented texts that were found in caves 13 miles from Jerusalem between 1947 and 1956. Parts of every book are represented except for Esther. There is a copy of Isaiah that is at least 1000 years older than the next oldest one known. There are also non-scriptural scrolls among them.
